Written by Adam Blackwell and illustrated by Paul Rees.

Young Adam has been warned. Don't go near the creek. It's dangerous. Creatures live there. Unseen hazards. It's too risky. So what's a boy to do?

In his first hardcover, lavishly illustrated book for children under 10, Adam Blackwell recounts his bicycle-assisted adventures as a boy growing up in the suburb of Heretaunga, Upper Hutt in the 1970s. Full of humour, suspense and some entrepreneurial fun, Adam's story is also a gentle lesson on the thrills of childhood reading, exploration and showing care for the world we live in and the creatures we share it with. (The book also stars his mum and dad, but not his brother or sister who seem slightly miffed by this omission.)

Don't Go Near The Creek is a beautifully presented hardbound book with original illustrations by artist Paul Rees. It is printed by Lamb Peters and published by Blackwell Press in Greytown.
